American actress Allison Brooks Janney was born on November 19, 1959. In her nearly more than three decades, Allison Brooks Janney has been recognized in both film and stage performances. Janney has received numerous awards, including the Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Also, she received 7 Primetime Emmy Awards. Two Tony Awards were nominated. Janney was a native of Dayton, Ohio. She was born in and was raised in Boston. She was awarded a scholarship to take classes in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following her graduation from Kenyon College. Janney's debut on TV came in 1999, when she played C. J. Cregg on NBC's political drama The West Wing (from 1999 through 2006). She was awarded four Primetime Emmy Awards for the part. Her role on the Showtime series Masters of Sex, Margaret Scully, Janney won the Primetime Emmy Award 2014 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Janney was nominated six times for Primetime Emmy Awards and twice was awarded the Outstanding Supporting Actress Comedy Series.
